The White Stripes formed in 1997 in Detroit, Michigan. Band consisted of Jack and Meg White. Jack was talented songwriter, guitarist and singer, Meg played drums and occasionally contributed vocals. After releasing few singles and three fantastic albums within the Detroit music scene, The White Stripes got better and gained huge amount of experience during this time. White Blood cells was successful and criticaly acclaimed album but it is „The Elephant” featuring the single „Seven Nation Army” that was their breakthrough album. It drew much attention from a large variety of media outlets in the United States and United Kingdom.The duo was also noted for fashion and desing aesthetic . Only colors they have used were red, white, and black. This colors were featured on every album and single cover the band ever released.

The White Stripes had punk and blues influances and a raw simplicity of compostion, arrangment, and performance. With this „rules” in mind band recorded two more great albums. In 2005, „Get Behind Me Satan” and in 2007, famus of it's title track, Icky Thump. They dissappeared in 2011 after long break from performing and recording.

enty-six singles, and fourteen music videos. Their last three albums each won the Grammy Award for „Best Alternative Music Album”.
