So. I’m going to record a four song EP The Orchard… and my first music video. I’ve been obsessing over this project for months so let me start from the beginning

It is very rare that I write songs and care about them for more than a month or so. Usually, I move on pretty quickly and leave my past creations to wilt. One of the songs I wrote is called “Foolish Heart” and it didn’t get added to my collection of dusty old songs. In fact, I’m as excited about it today as I was the day I wrote it. Now, I know that I m building it up quite a bit. But, I truly think it’s something you will love. It’s a lot like what I’ve written in the past in that it has a district melody, is sufficiently original, and is catchy but it’s also like nothing I’ve ever written before. The lyrics are less strange and cryptic and you might even place it in the genre of “Pop”. BUT don’t let that scare you. You know me, I hate writing something that sounds like anything else.

The song Foolish Heart is about loving someone and not being sure if they love you back. You have this thought or feeling stuck inside your brain: Maybe, even if it’s just a .5% chance, maybe they love you back. And, it’s a rather exciting feeling, but you also feel quite pathetic and desperate at the same time. It’s an odd mental and emotional predicament and I think it’s something most of us can understand.

This person is all you think about and all you really want and in your brain you know it’s simply ridiculous to obsess over something that may never happen. BUT it’s the heart that drives us to madness. See, our mind knows better, but the heart…

The heart is foolish.

I had an uncommonly clear mental picture/story when I wrote this song…which is odd because usually when I write it’s about a couple different things. It has it’s own little world. That’s where the idea of a music video was born.

After I wrote Foolish Heart I began to write more music than I ever had. The other songs on The Orchard are both reminiscent of past releases but also new and unexplored. The Orchard EP will include, collaborations, happy songs, sad songs, an incredible producer (he produced Hide and Seek), general artsy-ness, new themes, enhanced lyrics and melodies, cool artwork, and so much more. I literally cannot wait to show you. "
