St.Simeon and the Stylites were born in the windswept environs of North Donegal (next stop - Iceland).
Ben Simmons straddles the upright bass and occasionally provides vocal monologues. He'll have you know he's a poet and a writer currently tackling a PhD in Dublin.
Roger O'Shea, covering Guitar, Bouzouki, vocals and percussion, studied and continues to study the philosophy of art in Limerick and has an unhealthy interest in avant-garde Music.
Eoin Hough slaves away on a stage piano when he can get away from the farm in North Tipperary. Amateur Horticulture and the arcane mysteries of the piano are his vices.
Marc Grady pounds the tubs and rattles the cajon. Studying digital forensics this dilettante has all angles covered. Still stuck in the wilds of Donegal Marc is on a long term (geographical!) sabbatical from the band!
When Roger arrived in the town of Falcarragh he found a few like minded souls with a fondness for the strange and quirky end of the musical spectrum. After a year of local gigging Ben and Roger returned to college promising to keep the Stylites alive. They now meet every month or so for small gigs and the festivals that'll have them.
What do they sound like? Well, it’s a fairly eclectic mix of Art-rock, New-wave, Jazz with occasional smatterings of trad and folk rhythms.
