In the space of just 12 months Rackhouse Pilfer released their second studio album showing that the band is full of creative ideas.Together with Brad Jones as a producer, band recorded the album in Nashville where they had chance to play at Grand Ole' Opry too.
When I first heard the songs on the album launch I couldnt belive how good their were played live and just wanted to hear the studio versions to see is there any difference . All except one track -„Shady Grove”- comes from bands fantastic writing skills. Universal themes are in evidence- love, personal journeys, and loss, but all seen through 6 prisms from 6 different angles. There is such a versatility in the style of this album that it keeps you occupied for whole 50 minutes of its duration. Composed of instruments like acoustic guitar ,harmonica, fiddle, dobro, banjo, mandolin, double bass and drums along with all members contributing vocals, album creates really relaxed but full of positive energy atmosphere.
The songs on the album dont go far from traditional bluegrass in terms of composition but they all have this 'modern feel'. We can also hear some influance of Irish music for example in 'Me and a Polar Bear' that lifts up spirit and draws a big smile on my face every time I hear it. 'Angela' that is my personal favorite, is a tale of lost love which finds its way straight into listeners heart because, who had not experienced such a feeling? Record finishes with beautiful 'Fallen Leaves' that is a great song in its every aspect.
There is so much to admire on this album that I cant really describe it. 'Love and Havoc' is an evidence that Rackhouse Pilfer will shortly become an important name and their shows will be sold out within and beyond these shores. The songs are all well written and and taken straight from the top shelf.
